“Touching 500 Lives” – promoting Breast Cancer awareness

In October 2009, in correspondence with Breast Cancer Awareness month, J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines launched a national campaign in partnership with the National Breast Cancer Foundation to help provide 500 mammograms to women who would otherwise be unable to afford them, by donating $2 from every bottle sold of our 2005 J. Lohr Carol’s Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. Called Touching 500 Lives, this effort was designed to call attention to the importance of mammograms for early detection, and to raise awareness for breast cancer issues and education. We designated the 2005 J. Lohr Carol’s Vineyard Cabernet a commemorative release in Carol Lohr’s honor.

This year, J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines has expanded Touching 500 Lives to include both the J. Lohr Carol’s Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon and J. Lohr Carol’s Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc, with $2 from the sale of every bottle of either wine going directly to provide another 500 mammograms for women who would otherwise be unable to afford them.
 
And this year, we celebrate the stories of hope and survival of five women in the J. Lohr extended family by ‘Inspiring Hope.’ These stories of cancer survival are personal to us as a company and us as a family.
